Figure skating when on your period?!
Question: My period has just started, and it's a bit heavy. I have to go figure skating this Friday for a school event. I was wondering if this was okay. I would use a tampon, but I'm too frightened at the thought of inserting something into my vagina. The event will only be for 2 hours. I use extra long pads, but even with those, they can get a little messy in just a few hours. I'm wanting some opinions on what I should do.

I figure skated for many many years. Personal, I use tampons. I don't like the mess of a pad, but its all your personal choice.
You have already indicated htat you are too frightened to use a tampon, so I think you already have your answer. You have to get over the personal fear of inserting a tampon into your vagina.
There is no problem using a pad while figure skating. It all depends on what you are doing. If you are jumping, spining, and going field movements you might want to consider using a tampon becuase you are moving alot and their might be some leakage, but if you are just learning the basics a pad will be find.
Remember to bring along a few extra pads, and the arena wil have a bathroom, so you can go and change your pad every few hours.
You should be fine. The skating facility should have bathrooms. To make it easier place a pad in your jean pocket so you don't have to keep running to a locker. I hope you have a good time.
my daughter skates as well, and only uses pads, and she hasnt had any problems. just remember to throw a couple extra pads in your purse and take a bathroom break at the end of each ice session.
