Question: I am really scared, I am going to the hospital for a load of tests, on my bladder and womb, and they are all going to be by male doctors, I am really scared and upset about that, given the nature of the tests I am scared anyway, and having a man do them, urgh.... Any tips to cope?

In the past I have found that male OB/GYNs know how uncomfortable women can be with them so they try to overcompensate by being extra sensitive to your needs and comfort zones and explaining every little thing they do in detail before they do it. They also tend to try to be funny/charming to make you more comfortable. Although I was nervous before hand some of my best experiences while getting exams were with male doctors. Good luck!
you can request a female doctor if you are not comfortable.
Well, take solace in knowing that the doctors do this type of testing everyday and have years of experience working in the ob/gyn feild. There will probably be female nurses there during the testing, and if not you can request that there be. Don't worry, you'll be fine! Hugs!

If you feel very uncomfortable you can request a female doctor, also know that a female must be present at all times, so you will have that security. Also realize that they are doctors and this is their job. They are not concerned with what it looks like etc, only about how to make you healthy again. They do these test on thousands of women and therefore have seen it all. Honestly if you are not comfortable, speak up and they will help ease your concerns. Dont be afraid to hurt their feelings, they understand
A male doctor should not be doing this. Tell him that you are not comfortable with him taking test "I am better off with a woman or female doctor."
why don't u try 2 get a female doctor 2 make the tests and don't be scared i hate going 2 the doctor's for check up but u have 3 do it its gonna be fine
I am the same way, i hate going to male doctors, but don't worry they see these things all day long, they aren't going to do anything wrong, just think "hey, this is going to be over in a little bit, and by the next patient, they won't even remember who i am," it helped me (i had to go to gyno for first time after i was married, and my mother in law told me that, and u know it really helped me relax) and trust me, its not as bad as you think, your just nervous, because of how things are nowadays, but don't worry about it, it will be fine, and there will be a nurse in there with you, if you feel to uncomfortable, request a female doctor next time you go.
