Question: Hi
My period was suppose to be due today but I've been on bc for 5 to 6 months now so my period is usually 3 days late. Yesterday I noticed some brown discharge on my panties but nothing was on the toliet paper when I wiped. I've never have had brown discharge before and I want to know if it's something to worry about? please help! a lot of people say that it's a pregnancy sign....I am a virgin but me and my bf have messed around before and is it possible that I could become pregnant from something like that?

it really is hard to say. it could just be old blood left over from your last period that final found its way out of you. If you missed your pill or forgot until later, then you may have spotting. if you really have questions, go see your doctor or ask your mom. Just tell her about the brown discharge, and ask her what it could be from. If you just fooled around and are on bc it is very unlikely that you are pregnant. You could wait and see if more discharge comes out and the color . If you have it continually, ask you mom or you doctor or both. But, I don't think you have a reason to be worried just yet. Ask a friend if they have a un-used home preg. test you can use, or buy one your self. Its not as embarrassing as you would think, just buy someother stuff like chips, and soda, etc and the test. Also try to get inline with a female casher if it would make you feel better. Good luck.

The brownish discharge is your period getting ready to start. And no.. you're not pregnant. It's very common for girls/women to be late.

By the way.. there are plenty of people who take birth control and are not sexually active. I was put on it before I started having sex so that it would regulate my period. (I was having a really heavy period for sometimes 12 days in a row)

sorry chealsea g you are wrong. If he ejaculates on his finger and inserts it into you it is possible to become pregnant... Also chealsea youg girls use bc to regulate their periods

i have gotten brown discharge before and it's nothing to worry about. i also take birth control and i started taking it when i was like 14 (way before i started having sex). I got my periods 2 weeks a month instead of just one week and birth control helps regulate your period. so in response to the first girls answer, birth control can be used for more than just birth control.

Yes you can get pregnant that way - but the brown discharge likely means your cycle is about to start (first day of full flow is considered day one of your cycle). The brown discharge is old blood from your uterus that has taken a little while to leave your body... just like blood from a cut turns dark on a kleenex after awhile. Cycles do not generally start with a "bang" but slowly... therefore the dark blood. It is not abnormal and if there are no other symptoms, you sound like any other woman out here :)

You can only get pregnant if the penis enters the vagina and ejaculates. If that didn't happen, you're fine. Why are you taking birth control when you're a virgin? You shouldn't take it unless you're having sex. Brown discharge is old blood, no worries there. Your period is probably just messed up from the birth control, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Stop taking it unless you're having sex, and it will be regular again.
