Depends what is meant by 'diet'. Young, growing people need plenty of protien, vitamins and minerals for healthy development and growth. In young women it is particularly important to have a good calcium intake, to lay down strong bone structure, thereby reducing the chances of osteoporosis in the future. Many slimming diets focus on reducing dairy products, which is not a smart idea, since a huge ammount of our calcium is found in these foods.
Reducing FAT and SALT intake and increasing exercise, however, is of huge benefit.
because your body is growing & developing & needs all it's vitamins & nutrients to do this, if you're dieting your body is liable to get run down.
It is not desirable because the body is changing and adapting itself at this time depriving it of food could upset the balance, and lead to conditions such as anorexia take care
