Did you....?!

Question: learn how to put a tampon in yourself or did you ask someone? If you asked someone...who?

Answers: learn how to put a tampon in yourself or did you ask someone? If you asked someone...who?

Putting in a tampon can be a lot harder than it sounds, or than other people experience. If you have a very tight vaginal opening, it can be uncomfortable... if you haven't broken your hymen it could hurt, etc.

If you aren't too familiar with your vagina, I would suggest (when you're not on your period, or when you're in the shower), inserting a finger into your vagina to get the feel of where it is and what direction it goes back in. Once you're totally self-aware of the angle & location of the vaginal opening, you'll be much more likely to have success with a tampon.

Make sure to get one that small at first, and the ones with soft smooth applicators will make it easier (especially the first time, when you might be more dry and therefore have more friction).

Tampons aren't right for everyone though! I can put one in, but I don't use them. I find them uncomfortable and not at all preferable to a pad. This is a personal choice - if you try a few times, and you really just don't like it, I say relax and don't stress - it's up to you.

It can seem like tampons are the more 'modern' or cool thing to use, but really it's whatever works for you. Tampons can also give you Toxic Shock Syndrome if they are left in too long, which is easy to do if you forget one overnight.

Good luck! Remember to relax and pick a time when you aren't likely to be interrupted, to experiment with this in the bathroom (someone knocking on the door for you to hurry up, etc.).

Still cant figure out how they do it !

I personally think it is embarrassing to ask someone else.
Purchase a box of tampons and read the directions.
Explore yourself if you have to.
This website also helps alot if you want to find out how to use them.

I bought a box and read the directions and looked at the pictures. It took me a couple of tries to be confident but it was not too bad.

Just figured it out myself.

I taught myself. It's really easy, just follow the instructions that come in the box. It took me a few times but i finally figured it out. I'll never switch back to pads.

Ask your closest girlfriend, aunt, sister, etc. Why be embarrassed? It's natural. My girlfriend coached me outside of the bathroom stall after gym class. It's really very easy with the applicators these days. I'm from the generation of the not-so-comfortable cardboard applicators. They even come in slender sizes if pain is a concern. Start out small, then gradually increase the size if you can tolerate it for maximum protection.

I learned how to use it myself, I read the instructions on the box and figured it out. Personally I hated wearing pads so tampons had to be the perfect answer, but after reading this Q & A section I am quite surprised as to how many women cannot figure it out on their own. I actually found it quite easy, and I used the cardboard type that way everything was flushable, yes I said flushable including the cardboard applicator. That was another thing I hated was anyone knowing I had my period. After you insert the tampon and remove the applicator take the applicator apart and drop into the toilet, if you give it about 2 minutes it will unwrap itself and come apart, then it is flushable, and the used tampon is fllushable also, that is here up north in northern Alberta. Our sewer system seems to handle it, in the 12 years in one house I never had a blocked sewer drain. Good Luck

I asked one of my friends. My mom never used tampons, so she couldn't help me any more than the written instructions. But it's not bad at all, just relax and everything will be smooth. The more you tense up, the more difficult it will be.

Good Luck!
