How old should you be to go on birth control?!

Question: hey
i'm almost 14, and i've had my period only twice. but at the same time, if i'm not regular i'd like to go on birth control around 14 1/2 or something. is this too young? this is just to regulate my periods, not anything else.

wait until you've had enough periods to know you are irregular. About another year and a half. you can't tell until you've had enough time for your body to figure out what it's going to do. Being irregular at your age is common, although a pain in the timing. Even then, taking a drug or hormone into your body is not the wisest choice, just live with it. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but really, your body is going through a LOT of changes and you need to give it a chance to figure it out first. Okay?

This is a question for you and your mother to ask your doctor.

Ask.your.doctor. You should be getting checked out if you've had your period.

you need to see a gyn and get good advice.

Old enough to enjoy the sharp and delicious taste of mustard.

i was on birth control from the age of 12 as i had very irregular heavy painful periods it sorted them out but go and ask your doctor

I wouldnt go on birth control. Your periods will eventually regulate. It's not worth the symptoms. They increase hunger, and cause exccessive weight gainage. Also, they increase thyroid problems. I hope I helped!

Plkease vote for best ansewer =]

I went on birth control at fifteen years old. I am now 21 and am still healthy and happy. I say, as long as your periods are regular, you should be able to start the pill. The best advice you can get though, is from a doctor or school nurse.

be you start getting to sex,if you feel the need to , then you should talke to your mom about putting you on them.

REALY TALK TO U'R MOM AND TELL HER THAT U NEES TO GO TO THE DOCTER TO HAVE A CHICK! DON'T THINK OTHER STUFF THAT U MIGHT THING THAT THERE ARE RIGHT WHEN THERE ARE SO WRONG.

My sister started her period at 11 and she was on birth control at 12 1/2. I started at 13 and I went on it at 15.

It's not about being too young. There isn't an age, exactly. Just be aware that birth control can have side effects, just like any other drug. So you really need to discuss it with your mother and your doctor.

Wait a few more months to a year to see if things get more regular over time. It is incredibly common to have irregular periods when you first start and in most cases they even themselves out at some point.

If you still want to go on the pill, you pediatrition is perfectly capable of prescribing them... no need for a gyno.

Don't take Birth Control until you know you're going to have sex...

You're too young...
