What does a UTI feel like?!

Question: It feels like someone is slicing my urethra while I'm peeing, then after it burns for a few min. I've never had a UTI only a yeast infection. This is way different sensation. I can't really tell if it is my urethra or my vagina that is burning though????

Sounds like a urinary tract infection. The symptom you're describing is called "dysuria." Many primary care physicians will prescribe antibiotics over the phone based solely on a history of dysuria. Most, however, will not, and if you don't have a doc you may need to go to the emergency department or urgent care. A short course of antibiotics will usually clear up a UTI. Your doctor can also prescribe a medication called pyridium that will temporarily anesthetize the bladder and improve your discomfort.

Be warned: if you develop high fever, back pain, or vomiting, that could be sign that the infection is ascending to involve your kidneys (pyelonephritis). This requires urgent medical attention. And if you have any vaginal discharge, that suggests that you have more than just a UTI.

Bottom line: it's probably a UTI, but a call or visit to your doctor or a trip to the local urgent care is a good idea.

Feels like a burning candle is in there.

like there is an infection in your urinary tract.

Do you feel like you have to pee all the time? The urgency and burning are syptoms of a UTI.

deffo sounds like a UTI.

Also do you have to pee A LOT but nothing comes out?

If you dont you will soon.

Sounds like you have one. You also might have the sensation to go to the bathroom even though you really don't need to. Make sure you go to the doctor's. Untreated UTI's can lead to kidney damage if ignored!!!

They have over the counter UTI tests you can buy at like Walgreens too...if you want to test yourself before going to the doctors!

yeah they hurt and if you don't fix it...the kidneys are next. i was in hospital 2 weeks when i was 12 for the kidneys failing from uti. i thought it would go away on its own...NOT.

Do you have to pee every five minutes (or less)? But when you do, barely anything comes out? But the little that does come out hurts like a m*thaf****??

That's a UTI, my friend.

Break out the cranberry juice and start drinking. It's going to be a horrible couple of days! (There are also pills you can get from your doctor, or some over the counter cranberry-filled pills that will help.)

it's painful, not unlike your symptoms.
Simple tests can be done in the doctors office. it's worth the trip.

UTI's don't burn, it just feels like someone is sitting on your bladder and you have to go very frequently, or you feel like you have to go very frequently. It could be a yeast infection, I had one when I was pregnant and it burned. Drink lots of cranberry juice or take some AZO. It helps releive the pain but doesn't rid of it.

you have to pee all the time and it burns.also drink lots of water it normaly goes away after you drink lots of water for a couple days

UTI's are very very painful! It feels like you have to pee every 3 minutes, and when you do, it's only a little bit. Go to this link to the Mayo Clinic website, they give you really good information on it.

Yep that sounds about right. you are going to need antibiotics so make a trip to the doctor, you can get some relief by drinking plenty(lots and lots) of water, get some AZO tablets too. And no sodas or juices because of the acid. Hope you get to feeling better.

yeah thats one sign i have a UTI but im preg to so my signs might be a little different then what you may feel cause i feel like i have more thats wrong with me too. But any way when my UTI got real bad it hurt alot during sex it was a burning sensation, it burned also sometime when i pee, and i had pain in my lower stomach area and i got real sick. But you might have one to i say go to the doctor you said you had a yeast infection so it's a good chance you got this.

Signs and symptoms of a UTI...

After passing urine you may feel that you could still urinate more.

Burning and pain when you urinate.

Fever (high body temperature).

If you have a kidney infection, your back, side, or stomach may hurt.

Nausea (feeling sick to your stomach).

Needing to pass urine often, or feeling like you need to urinate often.

Pain low in your abdomen (belly).

Red or pink urine (bloody urine).

if you have a couple of these symptoms...then you have a UTI...go to the doctor to confirm that it is indeed a UTI...get some meds (anti-biotics) and you have to drink lots of cranberry juice and/or water...

You can also purchase over-the-counter pain pills made specificly for UTI pain, called AZO. It may upset the stomach when empty and will turn your urine a bright orange, but it works better than Advil or Asprin.

Do not try to suffer through a bad UTI. If it fails to get better with home treatment antibiotics may be necessary. UTIs can spread to the Kidneys and cause major damage.

Always wear panties with a cotton gusset
Avoid wearing tight fitting pants, pantyhose or underwear.

Always remember to wipe from front to back, never back to front as it may introduce fecal bacteria to the urethra and cause infection.

oOoucH...good luck

It sounds like you have one or at least your in the stages of one start immediately drinking lots of water and cranberry juice, or take cranberry pills, you can buy them pretty much anywhere. You should probably make a doctors appointment to be sure but taking the pills and drinking water wont hurt if thats not the problem.

Urinating is uncomfortable, especially at the end when the bladder is empty. Symptoms vary from person to person (and woman to woman), but a burning sensation while urinating is one of them. Increased frequency, increased need/ desire to go, cloudy, smelly urine, and sometimes a fever.
