Although there's no certainty about that, it's quite risky to undergo laser eye surgery at your age. What you fear is correct: you might develop further nearsightedeness (myopia) in the next years and at that point it would be dangerous to perform surgery again on your eyes.
If you wait until you're 25 or so, that risk is definitely smaller. However bear in mind that myopia can develop after surgery even if you wait to be 30 or 40 years of age. The reason is that surgery is NEVER a cure for nearsightedness. It just turns your cornea into a corrective lens, but your eyes will always remain anatomically nearsighted exactly as they are now. Nearsightedness is causes by the abnormal length of the eyeball and no surgery in the world can reduce it.
Since you have a few years to wait I suggest you to try visual training methods which can be very effective on nearsightedness . I'm currently -1.00 from an initial -3.75.
This is the method I'm following

It seems that this could be a good question for your eye doctor. You should really have a consultation with one before making any decisions on something like this if you haven't already.
Good luck to you, and be patient if you have to. It will all work out.
Theres the girl. When she swings, she swings back and forth with the biggest smile.
Theres the girl with the pair of glasses. When she swings, she stays still.
She has a sad, sad face.
I believe this is true. Your eyesight is supposed to stablize in your 20's and you have to wait for this before having surgery done.
