Faster than the Human Eye?!

Question: Faster than the Human Eye?
Okay I'm writing a book, and the main character is able to move faster than the human eye can actually perceive. How fast is that?

Impossible to answer, because it depends on how far away the person is from the observer. For example, if you flick your finger past your face quickly, you may not be able to see it, but the finger moving the same speed far away from your face is easy to see. A comet moving thousands of miles per hour is very easy to see because it is so far away... Even something going the speed of light would still be visible if it were big enough or you had a telescope and were far enough away.

Experimentally it has been shown that the human eye can detect just a few photons of light arriving within a short period of time, 0.01 seconds.
