Anybody Else Have Stupid Eyes?!
Question: Anybody Else Have Stupid Eyes?
At school I refused to wear my glasses because I thought that I didn't suit them - I still don't! - and didn't even tell my very best friend that I was short-sighted. That meant I did a lot of squinting at the board because stupid me decided to sit at the very back of the classroom. Most of the time, I just gave up and secretly copied what my neighbour if we were ever asked to write down something from the board. Everybody eventually found out that I needed them when one of my teachers loudly asked me why I wasn't wearing my glasses. The whole class turned to look at me in shock and one nasty girl confirmed my fear of not suiting them. That just made me even more stubborn about not wearing them.
Eventually, when I moved up to the Academy, I was forced into putting my glasses on - slipping my hand discreetly into my bag, pulling them out and putting them on for three-seconds maximum - I am good at English and a very fast reader. Fortunately, most of my new friends were short-sighted too and were - they still are! - very supportive of me and my glasses. One of them was even nice enough to let me copy off of her jotter, but that was mainly because even when I could see the board, I couldn't read the teacher's handwriting!
This Saturday, me and my brother went for a check-up at Spec Savers. I figured out instantly that my brother was REALLY short-sighted when he couldn't read ANY of the writing in front of him, even when they had enlarged this one letter to its full size. As I had suspected, he found that his eyes were a -2.something and he now needs to wear his glasses all of the time. Mine were quite a bit better than his but still disappointingly rubbish.
My next check-up is in a year, meaning I will be thirteen. And that's the youngest they let you consider getting contact lenses! Yippee!! I can't wait!
So does anybody else hate their eye-sight? Or have any funny stories that might cheer me up a bit?
Answers:
You know, you will make things easier for yourself if you just admit that you need corrective lenses, then wear the darn things.
You have a choice, wear glasses, or suffer with poor eyesight. Getting a pair of nice-looking glasses is much easier than not being able to see.
yep. millions & millions have this same problem. its really no big deal.

I've worn glasses full-time basically my entire life. I got them when I was 3. You really shouldn't be complaining about part-time use.
That should cheer you up!
