SUREVUE contact lenses?!

Question: SUREVUE contact lenses?
i have SURVUE, i want to know if it's contains Hydrogel and silicone Hydrogel
and it written on it "Contact Lenses for Daily Wear" thats mean that it's for daily using? cause i bought it as monthly
and what does this mean : in the side of the box written"BC 8.8 DIA 14.0 (etafilcon A)

Answers:

I'm surprised to see that the Surevue lenses are still available in some parts of Europe. They were discontinued in North America in June 2005.

They are a quite old technology lens. They came out in 1991 , many years before silicone lenses were invented. So , your lenses aren't silicone hydrogel, they are etafilcon A ( that is the material )

They are a monthly disposable, meaning you can wear them every day for 30 days ( taking them out at night )

BC 8.8 is the Base Curve of the lenses, ( the curvature )and 14.0 is 14 mm diameter. Every brand of contacts has similar numbers to tell us the size, because contacts come in different curvatures and diameters.

It says for daily wear so you don't be a weirdo and wear them for a month at a time. Don't throw them out every day unless it says to do so. Otherwise, wear them for about ~12 hours a day before storing them in the solution given to you with your contacts. If you want to know what it contains, ask a chemist, ophthalmologist or hit-up their website. The 'code' on the side of the box changes from manufacturer to manufacturer. It generally has something to do with the strength of the lenses, their thickness and their durability.

I'll just advise you. Do NOT wear them overnight and for extended periods of time. Even if your ophthalmologist says it's safe to sleep with them in, do NOT. I assure you, every trusted ophthalmologist will tell you not to because they restrict the amount of oxygen the tissue around your eyes and your eye itself receives. This will lead to the formation of ulcers and a very painful couple of days.
