if there is no way you can get solution use water. there are obviously no chemicals in water so they shouldn't damage your contacts. of course don't leave your contacts laying around because they will dry up and that would be sad :( so yea if you cant get any solution use water

Contact lens and water DO NOT mix. Just keep that in mind.
Water is NOT sterile and contains an organism called acanthamoeba which can cause a deadly corneal disease called Acanthamoeba Keratitis. It happens when water gets in touch with your contacts.
This amoebic keratitis is DEATHLY. It's very difficult to diagnose and treat. Most cases require a corneal transplant or a complete removal of the eye.

Just throw away the contacts. Remember, nothing in this world is more important than your vision.

Contact solution contains salt in a level similar to what is in your body. Also the solution is sterile. Tap water is not sterile, so probably these two things are what make your eyes sting. Distilled water would probably be better if your friend has some.

It's alright, JUST for one night. But, the next day when you want to wear them, they'll sting a little because I don't know why. I did this once, and the contacts were painful.

I've left my contacts in water overnight before. If you have to, you can. In the morning, they kind of sting for a few seconds or they may not want to go in right. It's not fun but it's doable.

I would not I would use contact lens solution.
