worried about daughters head and eyes?!

Question: Worried about daughters head and eyes?
my daughter is 6 years old and for a few days she has been complaining that her head hurt,i asked her point to where on her head it hurt and she showed me the top but by the next day she said the top of her head was now ok but she pointed to her forehead and said that really hurt above her eyes but worse over her right eye and its been there now for the last 2 days and she says the light hurts her right eye,it hurts when she coughs and runs about and when she moves her neck, she has no temperature, does not feel sick and she has had no coughs or colds and neither has she had any bangs to the head.she does look a little pale and we have given nurofen and calpol for the pain but has no effect. i popped into the doctors this morning but when i explained her symptoms they said it sounds more to do with her eyes than her general health and just advised me to have her eyes tested so i made a appointment at the optician but they are fully booked until next week so while we wait i just wondered if anyone might have an idea on what it might be.i did look on the internet-big mistake as it just come up with results like brain tumors (which im sure she has not got although it did make me worry) and migraines but with a migraine it said you are usually sick but she has not been sick at all so i am really stumped as to what is wrong with her so any help would be great.

Your doctor is right. The location of her headache is commonly associated with eye strain so she may well be having trouble with her vision. Does she squint at all when she's looking at things in the distance? That happened to me as a child and it turned out i needed glasses.

She's probably having trouble seeing at school. Ask the teacher to move her closer to the front of the class until she has her eye exam to see if she needs glasses.

Your not always sick with a migraine some people are, and some are like me, just have a banging headache but not sick. My daughter has had a couple of migraines and she's never been sick either, so that is a possibilty but the calpol and nurofen should've made a difference to that.
I used to get terrible headaches when i was younger if I ran around too much, I was never sick, just had a pounding headache but as I grew up they became what I now know to be migraines.

It sounds as if she's straining her right eye and obviously doesn't realise it. Light will force the eye muscles towards it and if her eyes are being strained that will give her head pain in the area you describe.

If she gets worse take her to A&E but it certainly sounds like she's straining her eyes and/or a migraine
