Astigmatism is an optical defect, whereby vision is blurred due to irregular curvature of the cornea or lens!. In corneal astigmatism, the cornea is ellipsoidal (like an egg) rather than spherical, which reduces the cornea's ability to focus light!. In lenticular astigmatism, the curvature of the crystalline lens is not even, resulting in scattering rather than focusing of light on the retina!. When light strikes the retina at multiple points, the result is blurred vision!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yep - put simply asitgmatism means your eye balls are shaped like footballs rather than being spherical!. For contact wearers, you'll need weighted contact lenses for them to site right in the eye!.

power, sphere, axis
The higher the sphere, the more your astigmatism!

i have it too!. it has to do with the shape of your eye!. your eye shape is a bit different than normal, more oval i believe, so your vision will always be a bit blurry without the aid of glasses or contacts!. i also believe that lasik will not work if you have astigmitism!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
The shape of the cornea in astigmatism is toric!. It is not ellipsoidal!. It is not irregular!.
With astigmatism lines of different orientation focus at different distances from the retina!. The top stroke of a T would be in focus but the staff of the T would not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
