Why cant i see when im driving at night?!

Question: i just drove home 2 of my friends from cheer practice and i totally could not see the road. it is dark and rainy but my friend said she could see but i could not see the lines of the road at all. it was really scary. this has happened before, but never this bad.

i have 20/20 vision in my left eye and 20/15 in my left [i just had a physical]. i went to the eye doctor once a few years ago and he said that i have slight astigmatism. could this be the cause of my not being able to see at night when im driving?

I had the same problem, and there is a lot you can do to improve the situation. Believe it or not, one cause can be dirty windshield wipers. Another can be film on the windshield. You should periodically clean the wipers with alcohol and a cloth to remove tar. Of course wipers should be replaced at least once a year. You can also try cleaning the windshield on the outside, LIGHTLY with scouring powder. Then use windex to clean the inside of the windshield.

If you have astigmatism, you need to wear corrective lenses for safest driving vision, even if your distance acuity is within normal limits.

I have also found, three months after taking a nutritional product, that my night vision actually improved. Email me if you want specifics.

Some people develop night blindness.

Put the headlights on...
Your friends a cat who can see in the dark

You need to go to a specialist. If this has happened to you in the past, it would be best to see someone who specializes in this field.

Just as others have recommended, I would advise seeing your local eye doctor to make sure nothing strange is going on. Those eye exams they give you with physicals aren't the most trustworthy gauge of your vision and you could be a little astigmate, myopic or have any number of other things going on.

Go see the doc and let him rule out anything and check your vision.

Increase your vitamin A intake. It's been known to help night blindness. However, if you're a smoker, I don't recommend vitamin A supplements as it's been shown that vitamin A may increase the likelihood of lung cancer.
