I don't want to wear glasses anymore. What can I do?!

Question: I only wear glasses to see to board far away. Since I've started wearing my glasses (about 1 hr a day since the September) I think my eyes have gotten WORSE. What's happening? Is there anything I can do to make my eyes better again (short of laser eye surgery). I heard there are "eye exercises" or something? Any ideas?

Flying dragon is right, there really is no way to reverse your vision problems with eye exercises. One possibility besides just contacts is Ortho-K. You wear RGP contacts overnight when you sleep and take them off and you see 20/20.

Basically it works like a brace by gently shaping your cornea to correct your vision problems. The downside to it is its kinda expensive like 1500 bucks and when you discontinue wearing the contacts at night your vision slowly goes back to what it was originally. But it is nice because you can be free from correction during the day and only wear contacts when your sleeping.

Other than that you probably have to wait until your vision stabalizes in order to get any surgeries (if you wanted to). Intacs are good for people who have -3 diopters or less of myopia as it is a less invasive surgery than Lasiks or PRK and is reversable if you get a bad outcome. Of course theres still a risk of infection with intacs but so is there some risk with contacts.

A side note: I used to feriously hate glasses and tried all I could to ensure that I wouldn't be stuck with them for the rest of my life! I tried Bates method or so called eye exercises as my last resort until i failed and became discouraged. Now I only wear glasses half of the time now but still find them a little annoying. But since then I've found new hope in contacts as I am planning on getting them soon! I'm optimistic that they will be good enough for me or until the eye surgeries improve even more!

If you are over 60 you probably need cateract surgery. If not why not laser surgery?

there's some surgery my mom was telling me about it's not laser surgery but it's almost like they put in (for lack of better words) permanent contacts. I don't know much about it but you could look into it. As to your vision getting worse even with glasses that's perfectly natural, it's just something that happens to everyone's eyes. So just make sure you're going in for your checkup every year or however often you go so that you can keep up with your prescription. 8)

eyes exercises, when you need to read long range sign, just pull in your eyes tightly to make center lense loose..then puff lot of salsa chillies..Holla you can see eyes surgery doctor after that..

If you are nearsighted, it is usually because the eyeball is slightly too long (front to back) so, when you look at something, the image falls a little in front of the retina, thus, it's out of focus. When you wear your glasses, the lenses of the glasses compensate for this by shifting the image so it falls on the retina again. Eye exercises aren't going to change the shape of your eye, so they won't fix the underlying cause of your nearsightedness.

If you really hate wearing glasses, you could get contacts, but they have their own set of drawbacks as well.
