It is advisable to use hi-index lenses of 1.61 Index.
If you need further thin lenses ask your opticians for 1.67 Index or 1.74 index lenses.
The Cost of the lens depends on Index.

Yes, they are quite thick and if they are made of glass, they also are very heavy and constantly slide down your nose. However, the way to get around that is to have them made with high index lenses. It costs extra but is well worth it for those who wear strong prescriptions. The lenses are thinner and look pretty much normal and they don't make the eyes look noticeably smaller.

She needs to upgrade to polycarbonate or hi-index to make the lenses thinner. Also, a plastic frame will hide some thickness.
Avoid rimless frames and frames that are large horizontally. Ovals or rounds work the best to thin the lenses.
