Am I too young for contacts?!

Question: I really want contacts but my mom said im too young (I'm 14) and wouldnt clean them properly which i would but i tell her that and she doesnt believe me then she says that glasses are better because she doesnt have to pay for them every month she says maybe when im 16 but thats 2 years and i really dont want to wait that long
so basically i am asking do you think im too young?
And also if i did get them about how much money would they cost per month?

Thanks for your time. ?

Contacts are indeed very expensive. About a years worth of contacts costs as much as one pair of glasses, and obviously glasses last longer.

She will save money if she buys you contacts on a 1 or 2 year basis rather than on a month to month basis.

You aren't too young. You just need to prove to her that you are responsible enough to be able to clean them all them all of the time.

Here is the key to getting what you want (almost all the time): Compromise!
Make a deal with her. Offer to do something for her and if you do it she can buy you contacts.

Offer to do something like the dishes every day for a month, or take out the trash or mow the lawn or vacuum the house once a month or something like that.

Or you will get better grades this semester.

Think of something that she needs done and offer to do it on a regular basis. This way you can help her and she will get what she wants. She will also see you as responsible.
Getting you contacts will be your reward for your hard work.

I got mine when i was 11. You can get dailies which you throw away every evening. Maybe you can comprimise with your mum and get only a limited number of contacts a month and wear glasses the rest of the time.

At any rate, there's loads of places which offer free trials so you can see if you get on with them.

i don't think ur too young..... my friend is gettin um and she's only 11.

I got mine when I was 11 (they were just colored contacts) You and your mom should talk to your doctor about it he could talk to her as well to you and let you know the risk of wearing contacts at a young age. (which I think is the same as everyone else) Also you might want to think of it like this. Your parents probably do want to get them for you but they can't afford it. And if they can't and you keep on asking they'll probably end up feeling bad because I believe all parents (I'm a parent) would want to get their kids everything they ask for. And at this time Contacts they can't afford. Think about it that way.

Take care! :)

I bought mine at 16 and lost a pair every year till I was 19! They're a bit expensive, so it really depends upon how careful u r. Secondly, hygiene is of utmost importance. U have to wash ur hands with soap everytime u deal with them. Also, if u r using disposable ones, u have to be careful abt not over using them. My friend developed an eye infection after she wore them for more than 2 weeks...these were to be trashed every 15 days.

14 isn't too young. I got mine at 13.
try to prove to her that you are responsible.
if cost is an issue, buy them in bulk, it costs less.
( i got 40 pairs for free because im friends with my doctor )
to save cost, be super super hygenic, they last longer.
also don't wear them on weekends if you're not going out or after school.
try not to wear them for more than 8 or 9 hours a day so you don't dry out your eyes.
get acuvues : they're mucho comfortable :)
carry eyedrops with you, you'll need them
get the store brand eyedrop solution instead of the more expensive kind, it works exactly the same and costs half as much
but being clean, not wearing them at home, and using eyedrops will make them last longer and that will save cost
:) hope I helped
