Should i get eye contacts?!

Question: i have prescription glasses at the moment, and im kinda getting tired of keeping them safe and stuff, so they don't break or losing them. i want contacts, but there are pros and cons about it, or so ive heard. im scared of like the process of putting it on, even though a lot of my friends have contacts and say its easy. im like a wimp. and im scared to take it out too! :[ so heres my question: is it difficult to put it in and taking the contact lenses off your eye-BALL!?!?!?!? thats a scary thought for me. im 13. my second question: im an avid reader, and love to read and stuff. [oops forgot to add, im nearsighted -> i cant see far, but can see close, so i take my glasses off when i read or do close up school work] so the problem is, i dont want the bother of taking contacts off when i do simple close work at school. what should i do? will wearing contacts while reading affect my already-terrible vision?

yeah i got them for my gymnastics. well im 13 and i got them when i was 12. it only took me a few days to get used to touching my eye... no its not difficult. the day i got them the lady sat down with me and showed me how to do it.
she had me put in and take them out 4 times to mak sure i knew how. just wear the contacts even when you dont need them! im near-sighted, and they dont make you see blurry when your up-close to something. so its no big deal just leave them in.

I got contacts at 16, your prescription will allow you to read w/o taking them off (I had the same fear). My optician showed me how to put in/take out and I have never had a problem. Just take them out every night (even if you don't have to)
Pros- No More Glasses yay!
I have never had a con (as long as you take care of them you shouldn't either)

With a good prescription you will be able to read with your contacts in. If you can't, at your age, the prescription is BAD...! It won't affect your vision either. That's one of the great things about being young--being able to wear single vision lenses...!

You should try futzing around with your eye now, before you even have contacts to see how you react, and if you can get use to it. While looking in the mirror, focus on your image and not what you are actually seeing--your finger and hand coming in toward your eye. Focus on your reflection from being outside. Try holding your eye wide open and moving your finger closer and closer to your eyeball. If that works well, you can even lightly touch your eye--I know, it sounds scary, but it will give you an idea of how you react to futzing with your eyes, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised when and if you do touch your eye, how little it affects you. And mind you, when you get good with contacts, you will not be touching your eyes all that often, so this practice is the worst of the worst...!
