How are you cleaning your lenses? I'm a huge fan of anti-reflective/anti-glare coatings. You see better and they make your lenses look almost invisible in the frames. They also require some extra TLC to keep them from showing scratches and smears. Smearing is a big complaint for anti-glare users, but you can easily keep it from becoming a problem by cleaning your glasses properly. ALWAYS wet your lenses before cleaning them. That's a biggie and one of the most common mistakes I see. A spray cleaner made for anti-reflective coatings is great but you can also rinse them under the faucet and clean them with a bit of dish soap. Use a soft, clean cloth to gently wipe them dry. A microfiber cloth is an inexpensive investment that really helps you keep your lenses and coatings in good condition. Don't use the edge of your shirt or a towel that was washed with fabric softener. Both can have dirt or residue on them that will scratch or smear your lenses. Also don't use paper towels or other paper products as they can also scratch your lenses.

Todd M, ill take your advice & take them back after talking to my dad about it. -but first ill try the tips that ABOC gave me, & if my glare dont disappear, then ill def. be taking them back! thx 2u2! Report It

  • hair spray on lenses can ruin the anti-glare.

Anti-Glare is one of the prized possessions of many optical retailer's price gouging arsenal. There are some great anti-glare coating out there (Crizal) and some really bad ones. And often you will be charged the same for either and never know better...

Anti-glare coating have a reputation for not lasting and for peeling off. Most good ones come with a warranty, and since your glasses are only a week old, I would take them back.

As others have mentioned, you should only clean your glasses with soap and water, and dry the lenses with a microfiber cloth ideally, or a soft piece of cotton.

(P.S. If you take your glasses back, tell them you only cleaned them with soapy water and a microfiber cloth!)
