The most affordable will be Costco, Walmart, etc.. Depending on what your prescription is and your options, you could find lenses for less than $100. The catch is that these more inexpensive places want to sell you frames (frames are where they make their money), and are not fond of people bringing their own frame in, and they will often refuse to work on certain types of frames (rimless compression fit for example). Plus they will often charge a "mounting" fee when you supply your own frame, up to $25...

Optometry is not cheap around L.A. from what I have seen. Most places want to get around $150+ for even single vision lenses, often adding things like pricey anti-relecting coating or UV protection coatings to get the price even higher.

Watch out for hidden or added costs. Anti-reflection coating is a great option and almost a must have, but not when they want you to pay $90 dollars for the top of the line type coating. On the other hand, UV protection is something 95% of most eyeglass wears can do without...

The most affordable way to get new lenses in your frames is to send them out. I have done this and got single vision polycarbonate lenses installed in my $350 Silhouette rimless frames for around $40 (one of the most complicated of mountings). The lenses are fine, and I am happy for the little money I spent--though I did have to wait for a little over 2 weeks until they arrived (I used Global Eye Glasses in NY, see below).

It is really hard to give you details. It depends on how old the lenses are; what shape; how much the frames cost, etc.

No one here can tell you prices.

It depends on where you go.

Go to a couple of optical stores in your area and ask them.
