I want to buy new lenses but not frames...?!
Question: Is there a limit to how old my current frames can be? I've had them for 9 years. I hardly ever wear them (I wear contacts) but I've noticed the lenses are finally starting to wear - the coating is starting to peel and the prescription is probably a little too low now anyway. But I don't want to buy new frames if I don't have to.

If the frame is still sturdy and not thin in the screws/hinge area or have any fractures, you can still use it. Most optometrist don't have a problem using your frame. The guy I worked for made sure that you knew it was a risk using an old frame...if it broke, you may be able to get parts to fix it or a replacement. And that it's your responsiblity to replace the frame...especially being almost a decade old.
You shouldn't have to buy new frames. If the eye glass place you go to says you can't use your frames go to a different one.
you dont have to buy new frames ........ and thats ok if you have them for 9 years i men everything old is coming back again and everyone is using old stuff :)
