I am new to buying contacts lenses. In what denomination do you buy them?!
Question: The guy who said yearly lied to you. It really depends on the brand. An example is with the brand Acuve you can get daily disposables, 2 week disposables, and monthly disposables. (I have Acuvue Advanced which are monthly disposables, that you must clean every night and had so far had no problems with them.)

They also have tips for putting them on when you're new to them. And you can type in your info and receive a free trial pair.

yearly
It depends on the brand, and what your eye doctor recommended. If your RX changes frequently order smaller amounts.
monthly or yearly
A monthly replacement lens usually comes in a pack of 6; therefore one box will be a six month supply for one eye (ex: Focus Night and Day, Purevision).
Bi-weekly replacements can come in packs of 6 or 12; in the first case, one box will be a three month supply for one eye(O2 Optix), the second case will be as above).
Dailies are available in many denominations, from 7-per pack (one box will be a 1 week supply for one eye), 30 (one month), etc.
The prescription itself is good for 1 year from the date of your fitting.
