What does SPH mean for my OS/CYL eye prescription?!
Question: In my eye prescription, it says my OD - CYL is -.25. For my OS - CYL it says "sph". What does that mean? Does that mean it's the same as my OS - SPH, which is -2.25? I don't understand eye presrcriptions! Please help!

OD=ocular distal or right eye
OS=ocular sinister or left eye
SPH=sphere power
CYL= cylinder power or astigmatism
If you see the "sph" in the "cyl" box, that means you have no astigmatic correction in that particular eye.
