Eye laser surgery and my tumor?!

Question: I went to the eye docter this past sunday and she said i shouldnt get eye lasar surgery still after age 23 because i eye countues to change until then and then after that its the same till i get way older, and im only 20. Well discussing this with my fiance im not sure if ill be able to because my left eye changed from extremely bad to alright sight because i have a brain tumor which got infected. Would having a brain tumor on my occiptal lobe effect eye laser surgery???

hi,
I am a doctor..
Well, there are several reasons to have bad eyesight..
1.the most common thing is a refractory error..
this can happen due to a lazy lense..however, laser eye surgery can fix it since it aims at changing the curvature of the cornea..
when you have refractory error of the eye,it changes till you are about 23 years and then it stops...so most of the time laser eye surgery or LASIK is done when this stop at the age of about 23 years since there is no point doing it befoe that, sicne the refractory error would change even after the surgery if you did it before 23 years..

2. then, there is another thing,
if you have tumor in the occipital lobe, this could affect the optical area of the brain and then this again could affect vision.this is not a problem with the eye, but a problem with the brain, and how it percieves it..so, here laser surgery to the eye is not needed here as in an instance of refractive error..the treatment here is to cure or remove the rumor..

so you can see these are two mechanisms where the eyesight changes..
so, the treatment option are different although the symptom of both were bad vision of the eye..

i dont know anything about the last part of your question.. but i got my eye laser surgery by the army when i was 19 years old and i'm 23 now and my eyesight is still 20/20 if not better... (btw my procedure is called PRC)

I think that it could. Laser eye surgery is designed to change the optics invovled in placing an image through your eye onto your retinas. From there, it goes into the brain and is processed. If you had a brain tumor on the optical lobe, then your processing could be screwed up and though the optics in your eye are perfect, your brain is intrepreting them wrong.
