Why do you see bright white lights when you rub your eyes for a long time.?!
Question:
Why do you see bright white lights when you rub your eyes for a long time.?
Answers:
The retina (which is the sensory portion of the eye) is designed to transduce or translate light into chemical signals that our brain understands. However if any other stimulus is applied to our retina, such as pressure or any form of traction, the retina STILL translates this as if it were translating light and thus our brains still perceive the pressure (from eye rubbing for example) as light.
Thus, when you rub your eyes or if you get punched straight into the eye, you will also see lights.
