My Left eye is 20/200 & the right is 20/150 or 20/100, idk. Both eyes open I!
Question:
My Left eye is 20/200 & the right is 20/150 or 20/100, idk. Both eyes open I can see 20/80 line. Am I 20/80?
Since i am not walking around with one eye open, and since I can see the 20/80 line with them both open, am I 20/80? This is after my eyes were diluted which makes you see worse so I am possibly better. I know the right and left eye are bad, but with them both open I see significantly better since the eyes work together. So if someone asks me what my vision is, would I say 20/80? Thank you.
Answers:
You see better with both eyes because of a phenomenon known as binocular summation. You are right any way you say it, it's a measure of visual acuity that has to do with a ratio of angular subtense, so you're 20/200 in the left, 20/150 in the right and 20/80 with both eyes. I would consider you to have 20/80 acuity. With lenses in front of your eyes, you could improve, then your acuity would get better, your likely a mild to moderately far-sighted person.
