I am a hayfever sufferer, but this does NOT look like hayfever.
Answers:
Two possible explantions come to mind.....the first is a swelling of the conjunctiva which can balloon forward and look rather gelatinous in some allergic/inflammatory situations. This is called chemosis. It can come on rather suddenly. The second is when a wedge shaped portion of the "white part" or conjunctiva/sclera covers the cornea and is know as a pterygium. This does not come on suddenly. So, my feeling is it's option number one and something has gotten into and irritated your eye. See your eye doctor for an evaluation and treatment.
