EYEGLASSES HELLLPPp?

I bought a friend some frames bc he broke his glasses. If I know his RX can I buy him lenses from costco or does he have to buy the lenses? I really want it to be a surprise, an anonymous gift so he doesn't feel it's a handout so if I can't buy the lenses that will be up to him. :-( It would just be super cool if I could buy his lenses from a costco or something and just "leave" the glasses on his bed with a note stating its a anonymous gift from someone who loves them (not IN love with them as a friend lol)

You have to have a physical copy of his prescription signed by a doctor, it's illegal for them to make glasses based on what someone just comes in and tells them. Also when they make his glasses they need to know which part of the lens his eye looks through so they can put the center of the lens there, otherwise he is going to have trouble seeing, especially if he has astigmatism.
Like the first person said your best bet is to have them made in the place where he got them, not because you'll save money on the lenses but because they will already have all the measurments they need.
