Will an eye gouge cause a black eye?!

Question:

Will an eye gouge cause a black eye?

Answers:

Only if the lid was also involved in the trauma. If only the eyeball itself was gouged, you may have some swelling of the lid region in response, but typically no bruising of the lids. It certainly doesn't feel very good to have an abraded cornea. See your doctor soonest if this has happened to you.
