Tell Them or not?!

Question:

Tell Them or not?

I failed my eye exam at school and im afraid im going to get glasses! i just got the reccomendation to see an eye doctor but
I'm afraid my parents will blame the computer and electronics and take them away from me! and plus i dont want glasses because Braces are good enough for me! And plus, its all genetics fault but i doubt they'd believe me! (both my parents are near sighted). I feel bad and blame myself...I know i have to tell them sooner or later....Please tell me how i can get the confidence to tell them and how i can get the acceptance that i have to wear them?

Also, Do you have to wear glasses before contacts or can you wear contacts without wearing glasses??

Answers:

Most of the time if you fails a school screening they will contact your folks if nothing has been done to get you in to the eye doctor. So, if you have not told them, you should, because it makes the school think your parents are not taking care of you. Second, they know it is heredity. They inherited it form their parents or grandparents. It is no secret. You have to have glasses no matter if you get contacts or not. You can not wear contacts in all situations and you need to have somehting to back them u p if you can not wear them for some reason, like a scratched eye, or an infection. Glasses are cute and fashionable to wear and most kids get really kewl ones that they like. It is a good excuse to go shopping afourn with your mom to find kewl frames! Unfortunately braces will not help you see better, and squinting is so way not cuter than having good glasses that look fun and help you see! Tell your folks that you need and eye exam before the school does it, and then get a positive outlook becuase it is not going to go away, and you will need to accept what is what. It is part of growing up. If you are good and responsible about getting glasses, they might consider contacts at a later time. If you are not responsible about getting glasses, most doctors will not reccommend it to your folks until they can tell him that you are responsible aobut your glasses! See? It is not so bad...my eyes are really really bad and I love my glasses and my contacts. I wear both and love them both! O^O
