This has been going on for a month? You didn't mention if you have any pain, light sensitivity, vision problems, or redness. If you develop those symptoms, definitely get to a doctor right away.

Yes, you might have some sort of an infection, and it does warrant being checked into...but there is another condition that is very similar called nasal lacrimal duct obstruction...a blockage in the tear ducts. With NLDO, the main symptom is mattering and crusting and needs to be checked out also...usually an optometrist can check this out and refer you to either a pediatric ophthalmologist or oculoplastics specialist for further evaluation and management.

Because of how long this has been going on, and the fact that I work for an ophthalmology clinic and have seen this symptom you describe many, many times...both for infections and NLDO...I would suggest to your parents to at least have your eyes evaluated. There are treatments for both conditions...drops for infection, and lacrimal system massage for NLDO as a first-line treatment...both of which are quite simple fixes to start with.

I understand you are scared...but I'm not a physician...only work closely with a group of ophthalmologists...and the best way to diagnose your problem is to be seen. Definitely be seen right away if you develop any pain, redness, irritation, any vision problems...that does signify a more serious condition that probably won't just go away on its own.
