Are contacts lense expensive?!

Question:

Are contacts lense expensive?

if so how much does it cost?

Answers:

A contact eye exam is more expensive than a regular exam. If you don't have insurance, it can be about $140+. The contact lenses themselves can vary in price depending on brand, type and prescription. Since I have an astigmatism, my choice is very limited and astigmatism contacts are more expensive than someone with myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightedness) because of the special way the lense is formed.

There are hard, soft and RPG lenses and there are different materials used in contacts. The more recent and healthier lenses are usually disposable and allow more oxygen to the eye as well as they will stay more moist and comfortable. These tend to be a little more on the pricey side than say non-disposable contacts.

Also, you can look around for rebates and discounts online or your doctor's office might offer you a discount (mine did). I ended up paying I think it was 24 dollars per box of four lenses, so that was 4 boxes with 4 lenses each and then I got a cupon with a $50 rebate off of 4 boxes.

The thing is though, that will only last me, if I wear the contacts every day, about 2 to 3 months. So, you do the math on a years worth of contacts.... :-)

Hope this helps!
