Can't Shake a Cough?

About two weeks ago I came down with a nasty little chest cold. Got it from my kids (all three of them got it first). About 10 days ago I felt completely over the chest cold but I can't shake this cough, and it's still making me cough in an embarrassing manner, like once every 10 minutes. If I exhale 100% I can also hear a wheeze.

It's like I am trying to clear out the mucous, but can't on my own. It's down deep. Should I try expectorant, or will that just make me cough more and not necessarily be productive?

I doubt it's anything serious, just a very annoying lingering cough. Aside from the cough, which is worse in the early mornings and late evenings, I feel fine.

Try Muscinex or go to the doctor. You have either lingering bronchitis or a nasal condition that will annoy you for another two weeks if left alone. Cough syrup won't work, but an antibacterial medication will.
