I was in a minor car accident the other day, and I now have a seatbelt mark about 2 in. in length on my chest.
What is the best treatment to help minimize the scar that is likely to develop?

After reading many of the responses, I realized I forgot to specify that the mark is not a bruse, but a small cut caused by the seat belt since I was wearing a tank top.

Wow, that doesn't sound like a minor car accident! I'm glad you are relatively ok! From your description, it sounds like you have a minor abrasion/cut from the seatbelt hitting your bare skin. If that is the case, use some over-the-counter antibiotic ointment 3-4 times a day. That is really all you can do to prevent a scar. There are all kinds of companies that try to sell you meds that they claim to prevent/diminish scars but it is all hogwash! :) Just use the antibiotic cream. If you are having pain, then you should see your doctor if you haven't already been checked out. It takes a lot of force to cause the classic seatbelt mark.
