I have achilles tendinitis?!
Question:
I have achilles tendinitis?
how long will it take to get better ? I been inactive for 3 weeks, I play tennis, I'm 36 yrs old
can ultrasound show how bad my tendon is? since I can't have MRI's (I have a pacemaker)
I been doing stretches, very slow, as my doctor showed me, I've been using heels, I took antiinflamatory drugs, and put ice on the tendon.
Don't know what else to do, and if it still hurts (not as bad as 3 weeks ago) is it normal?
Answers:
Achilles tendonitis can be very debilitating. On average, it can take a few weeks to get better. You're doing all the right things, but since nothing is improving - I'd suggest adding a temporary time in a walking boot and putting your heel lifts in there. It's also a good idea to get a referral to a physical therapist. They have the cool tools to help with inflammation and decrease the pain. You also should be evaluated for an orthotic which can help support your foot and ankle so you don't get tendonitis in the future. It's improving, but you could try adding these few things and you should be able to get back soon. Good luck!
