How long is the surgery?
How long is the recovery (until i can play baseball again)?
Does it hurt after surgery?
Can i walk around easily the day after the surgery?
Note: My hernia is mild and the hole is small
Answers:
The surgery itself is relatively quick and easy. Usually it will be done in about an hour. There is always some pain with any surgery, but because the incision is relatively small, the pain should be reasonably well-controlled with pain medication afterwards. It might be a little rough walking immediately after surgery but that should quickly improve. Unfortunately, with hernia repairs it is recommended to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks post-operatively to avoid compromising the repair. So baseball might not be a good idea for a while afterwards.
