Percocet ... has anyone ever been on this before?

I through out my back yesterday and was given a prescription for percocet. I've read some mixed opinions on it?

Nothing to play with, take only as needed! It is a schedule 2 drug on a 1 -5 scale which is the strongest that can be prescribed, Schedule 1 drugs can not prescribed and are illegal - except under very controlled conditions for research: heroin,LSD,etc. It works for most people, but not all. It's codeine based and I can't tolerate codeine. They gave me flexirile(sp) as a muscle relaxer, but at half dosage prescribed, it still just knocked me out, and I'd just wake up with the same problem without getting a darn thing done. Drinking I was more in control with -- for awhile. What worked for me in the end was swimming (actually scuba diving with fins) that strenghtened the muscles in my lower back, The fins made the difference. I went through 20 years of on and off hell. You don't know what it is until you "walk in someone else's moccasins". Don't think the drugs will do any thing to alleviate the problem, but will take the pain away for awhile. Hopefully it is a sprain. I'm feeling good now, and avoided surgery, but it was the physical therapy and getting the muscles coordinated that worked in the end. Oh by the way, hide the drugs in any place other than your bathroom and med chest. Experience(s): I wish I'd never had.
