You'll Poke Your Ear Out! I cleaned my ear with a Q-tip and now I can't hear?!?!
Question:
You'll Poke Your Ear Out! I cleaned my ear with a Q-tip and now I can't hear?!?
I ran out of Q-tips, so when I finally got some I cleaned my ear out, which I know you're not supposed to do, but I've been doing it for like 25 years or something. Anyway, the q-tip went in, came out (it was gross) but suddenly it felt like I had water in my ear. It still feels that way, a week later. I have extremely limited hearing in my right ear now. I can barely hear a thing. I thought I'd just pushed wax in, but I tried putting ear drops in my ear and that just seemed to make it worse. I feel like my ear needs constant popping now, and it's embarrassing because I'm always having to ask people to repeat themselves? I know I need to go to the doctor, but does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Please don't laugh at me!!!
Answers:
Some people produce more wax than others and that wax can be either dry or moist. It sounds like you could have pushed wax down and made a barrier so now it's stuffed. Like a previous writer said, if you had punctured your eardrum you'd know it. When you put ear drops in did you warm it first and then place a cotton ball in the ear to keep the drops in? If not try that. Warm it like you would a baby bottle, warm not hot. Lay down and place a couple of drops in. Lay there for a few minutes then place a cotton ball in. That should help soften the wax. Then get some ear wash and use it to flush your ears. that usually works very well. If not then see a doctor and they will most like flush your ear.
