I burned myself with oil at 200C?!

Question:

I burned myself with oil at 200C?

I burned myself with hot oil at 200 celsius 4 days ago, I have large burn scars all over the lower half of my right arm, and now whenever I put my arm at the side of my body when standing up, it feels as if the blood is not going anywhere, is this something to worry about or will it clear up in a few days, I've never had this sensation whenever I have burned myself previously.

Answers:

your injuries sound very serious - you should get to a hospital without delay. you may need a skin graft. the longer you leave it the more likely you are of developing scarring- the problem with this is it will affect your range of motion - ability to use your arm. skin heals bottom up - as in from deeper layers to the outside. more superficial burns heal by themselves -treatment is usually to just create a safe environment for that to happen. a full thickness burn with take many months to heal, as the burn must heal from the edges. the surface area from which skin cells can move in the help is very low - ie instead of the side of the coin they only have the edge of the coin to work from.

a skin graft takes skin cells from another part of your body and allows them to grow much faster.

please seek medical attention.

cold water is the best first aid when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap is ideal. NEVER ice or vinegar or milk or butter or mustard or toothpaste or sunscreen or semen or vaseline - not until it is fully healed!
