Go with the gum. If you relapse, don't stress it, it's a normal part of the quitting process, just re-quit as soon as you can, and start again, you'll see after awhile whether you keep relapsing or not, you'll find smoking less and less enjoyable, and eventually you'll quit, and look back and realize it wasn't that hard after all. If you can get an adult to call the lung association, they will provide coupons for it free ( I believe they still do that). And pick up some healthy habits, eating better, a little exercise, both will only add to your disliking cigarettes, and wanting to make yourself healthier. Replacing a bad habit with a good one, really does help.
Think about this when you light one up;
1 I am making these evil tobacco companies filthy rich
2 This is going to make me a weak and sickly old person
3 This may very well kill me
