My mom started getting really bad headaches 4 days ago that won't go away. Is it something serious? She's 49.

She's been smoking for about 30 years now, but is now trying to quit because she's scared of the headaches she's been getting. I'm worried she might have a stroke or something else really serious. My mom says her head hurts a lot when she uses strength. It also seems my mom is not herself, she's usually energetic and moving around, but now she's weak and not wanting to do anything.

Please don't say "Try Advil, Tylenol, or Motrin" etc..she has and they don't do anything.

Well she should defiantly go to the doctor. It could be many different things. She is at the age to start going threw menopause. It can cause many symptoms. Headache is one, mood changes, tired, hot flashes and just not feeling well. It will go away in time. Sometimes people need hormone shots to regulate their body. She could also be stressed out. They do have stress tests to see how its effecting there body. She could just be getting migraines. They do happen alot more has we get older. I personally get really bad headaches and I went to the doctor and he confirmed that they were migraines and gave me a medication called imatrex. It helps alot. So my point is tell her to get it checked out. Tell her you love her and you want to make sure shes OK. Tell her you are so worried that you have posted a question on yahoo because you need advise. I am only telling you this because it sounds like she dosent like going to doctors. I was the same way. My husband would remind me that I am not the only one effected if I am sick.
