Answers:
A safe estimate would be between 6 - 8 weeks in a cast depending on the type of break and the activity level of the individual. A moor active person the Dr. would probably leave the cast on longer so the injury will be completely healed and less likely to be re injured.
The casting material is a type of medical grade plaster and Fiberglas. And most places have colors now so the cast can be a individual kinda thing.
