The person at the salon has it right - wait 2-3 days for the redness to go away, then re-start your tanning. Keep the exposure time at 1-2 minutes below the time you use before they raised it (if you were at 10 and burned at 12, go to 8-9). Increase time gradually 1 minute at a time I would say every 2nd visit. You want a tan not a burn so don't hurry it. If you're not dark enough by the 18th, go get a spray tan.
My sunburns take what seems like forever to go away, like two weeks to completely disappear with the peeling. Chances are the redness will go away in no more than a week and the peeling around 3 days.
