I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, in a small town, and the medical care that we get here is far superior to what you are receiving. No one that I have ever met has had to wait that long for a gallbladder surgery. I am a nurse, and gallbladder surgery is one of the most common surgeries that patients have in our hospital. Having intolerable pain is a very good reason to go to an emergency room, not waiting until you have a fever and may become very ill. I'm pretty sure your doctor would take herself/himself to the ER if he/she was having gallbladder pain and want surgery right away.
The next time you have intolerable pain, go to the emergency room. Most patients would need an intravenous narcotic to deal with the severe, sharp pain of gallbladder problems. Nausea is often a part of this attack. The pain causes the intestinal activity to slow down, causing nausea and often vomiting. Sometimes you need to be your own advocate in pursuing medical care. Waiting a few months, suffering like you are doing is not a good plan. Having pain and worrying can definitely cause depression. Tell the emergency doctor exactly what you have said in you question. If you presented yourself to the ER in our town, you would be examined, tests done, a surgeon would be called in to do a consultation and a plan would be made. Laparoscopic surgery is usually done and the surgeon will discuss this with you.
In the meantime, make sure you are drinking fluids. Go to WebMd and investigate gallbladder disease. The more you know, the better advocate you will be for yourself. Have someone who cares about you accompany you to the ER, that helps.
