What Should I Do About The Lunesta?
My general doctor suggested Lunesta or Xanax for my severe insomnia.
I chose Lunesta but am having bad side effects. Should I use Xanax at a dose of 0.125 mg ? I think 50 % of .25 mg is more than reasonable.

Tell your doctor about the side effects.
Different sleep meds work differently. Some are better at inducing sleep, others are better at maintaining sleep. Some older drugs, such as elavil also work well for some.
Rarely are long-term benzos (even at such a low dose) a great idea.
As another suggested, regular vigorous exercise (of whatever type you like), often helps fight insomnia.
