Why would I suddenly be about twice as thirsty, needing to drink so much or beco!
Question: Why would I suddenly be about twice as thirsty, needing to drink so much or become dehydrated?
About 6 weeks ago I began to be mildly nauseous and dizzy, sometimes enough that I could not drive safely. I think I have finally figured it out, I need to drink all the time and then the dizziness and the nausea are gone. (I got that idea because I was having what is sometimes called a Sudafed headache - remember when you take Sudafed and suddenly an hour later your face feels like it's dried up?) Anyway, I am drinking water a lot, maybe 2 cups an hour, and I am better. But why? I had a fasting glucose done, my level was 117, but apparently that is prediabetic, not diabetic. Does anyone know why I should suddenly need to drink such a lot? (Also, I am starting menopause, but have never heard of that making you thirsty.)
Answers:
Just a change in hormones can make one very thirsty. You said a test came back that you are pre-diabetic ? That right there will give you an increase in thirst. Speak with the Dr or nurse that ordered those tests.
