Question: Is my wound infected?

I got a bad carpet burn the Other week which turned intO a bad scab. Then I was playing soccer on some Gravel and fell over, tearing off the scab and getting gravel in the wound. At first it looked surprisingly deep, but that healed up quickly enough. Now after a couple days, the outside of the wound has healed, but the middle bit doesn't look like it has progressed at all. It is very sore, a bit swollen (not too much) and it is weeping a lot, but it is stickier and yellowy than usual. The scab over it has a bit of a green/ yellowy colour as well. I have had the wound for a week now, but it has only been like this for about three days.

You are actually healing. The pus is the bad stuff coming out. Don't pick the scab as it is the best bandage going. If it was infected, you would see a lot of redness around the sore and progressing up your leg. Should that occur, see a doctor immediately.

I would use some hydrogen peroxide on it for a few days and if it still looks icky, go to the doctor. im not sure if its infected or not.. . but it seems it might.

If you are not allergic to anti botics then you can buy a tube of antibiotic cream at walmart or any drug store cheap and follow the directions to get rid of your infection.

Don't guess, go to the doctor!
