Answers:
Before any narcotic regiman, you will have steroidal shots, trigger point, therapy and others!. Pain meds are given for ACUTE pain from an injury that will heal!.!. Unless you have to see a pain Dr!. monthly Dr!.'s do not give steady supply of pain meds!. If you ask , expect less or nothing!. Shots are being used unless serious back problems like surgery or when will not get better!. Steroidal shots actually inject sugar with other meds and irratate area of pain!. The body naturally re-heals injury thus stopping pain!. The risk of becoming reliant on when you have a backache is not worth the risk when other options are available!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not really sure how you can work after taking vicodin or percoset!. I have scoliosis and was in a car accident where we flipped several times and that didn't help my back at all!. My doctor did prescribe me some muscle relaxers and I agree they don't do very much, but if at all possible try to go without the controlled drugs!. Maybe you can ask your doctor to refer you to a specialist and go from there!. If you do get vicodin or percoset or any other controlled substances be careful with how many you take and try not to take them if at all possible!. I've worked in pharmacies and people with injuries get addicted to them very fast! I would go see a specialist though and have your back assessed!

Give acupuncture a try!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The Doctor is giving you muscle relaxants because he thinks the problem is due to muscles, rather than bones, nerves, discs!. The best thing to to find out 'what' the cause of your pain is and then go from their!. That means seeing the Doctor and informing him that the muscle relaxant are not working and perhaps could you get a MRI just to see what is causing the pain!. Best of LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com

I know how you feel I was recently in an accident my self and they gave me Vicodin and Valium!. They tend not to give but one prescription of these type of drugs because they are highly addictive!.The best thing you can get next to these type drugs is flexril!. I know this is not what you want to hear but the best thing you can do is a warm/hot bath that will calm your pain!. But I am in the same position so I know!. Some prescription addicts have ruin that for the people in pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The others have given you some great advice!. Just to add to it, you could try to see a Pain Management Doctor instead of your primary dr!.!. They deal with pain meds on a daily basis and could work with you to put together a plan that is best for you!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

first you need to see your pcp on a regular basis for this problem!. maybe get some testing mri, etc there could be some further injury!.
Otherwise if you go to your dr and ask for exact meds you will be perceived as a drug seeker!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Here is your best chance!. Start a daily pain journal!. Nothing fancy,, I use a steno pad for each 3 months,, record:
Where you hurt
When you hurt
How badly you hurt on a scale of 1-10
How the pain is effecting your life,, what you can't do because of it!.

Write yourself notes based on the journal or better yet take it to the doctor with you,,, it will give him a HUGE amount of information on things like patterns, or trend It's hard to remember everything you want to tell the doctor when you only have a few moments with him and you're nervous anyway!.Plus it helps him justify giving you narcotics for pain control!.

I'm a chronic pain patient and I've been doing the journal for years!. I've been taking hydrocodone and soma for several years and as long as you don't take more than directed you'll do great!. Good luck!.

These days it hard for people that really need pain management to get it because of all the abusers!.

I always feel the same way when I know I am in need of a medication, and feel weird asking the Dr!. for something!.
What always works for me is NOT asking but telling!. For some reasons Dr!.s often don't want to prescribe a Habit forming drug such as what you looking for, but if you need it you need it!!.

See the Dr!. and say
"I'm here because the muscle relaxers are definitely not helping with my back pain, I need something for PAIN over the counter stuff isn't even touching the pain!. I definitely need something!."
Getting the courage to say it to them is usually the hardest part, but if just say it you'll be fine!. If for some reason the Dr!. says know i'd probably get a new one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
