I have a sharp pain half-way up my lower leg, on the front. What could it be?!

Question: I have a sharp pain half-way up my lower leg, on the front!. What could it be!?
It's a sharp like pain half way up my lower leg, in between my shin and knee, I'd say!.

I've recently been running for a month ever day almost, and it just hit me today while I was running!. It seems to hurt while I'm running, when my foot first hits the ground and puts a little pressure on it!.

It's also a little tender to the touch, it hurts somewhat if I press on the area, but not much!.

What could this be!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like shin splints!.

It is almost certainly shin-splints!. They are a very common running injury and every runner gets them at some point in their life!.

The muscles on the front of your leg contract when you put your foot down to try and stop your foot from slapping into the ground too hard!. This is very hard for your untrained muscles to do and if you've been running as much as you have, I'm surprised you didn't get these earlier!.

The immediate treatment is to ease off on the running and ice the areas that hurt!. You should also try to make sure your running stride progresses gradually and evenly from your heel planting on the ground to pushing off your toes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Considering what is at this anatomical side (bones, venes, arteries, muscles, nerves, skin), it can only be one of these!.

- A tear in a muscle is quite severe and it would look akward (you'd be able to see some kind of bulging on one end of the bone and its attachment),
- Tendons and ligaments would be more proximal (closer) to the joints!.
- The (tib-fib) bones are highly sensitive and have many nerve endings, so any problem with that will be painfull (especially minor and even worse mayor fractures), here you could have had sustained a 'stress - a minor - fracture' (especially if it involves pain only and you're still able to carry weight and/or walk on that location etc!.),
- A pinched nerve, muscle fatigue!.!.!.

whatever it is, it's probably not life-threathning or serious!. It probably just needs some rest!. If it doesn't get any better, then you should go see a health care provider (clinic or family practice, sports or orthopedic)!. Please do not go to an emergency department for these kind of things (as many people still do)!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not being a physician, but being in the medical field I'd say that it's a wake up call!. Go see a physician!. You could have an injury, running in the wrong type of shoes, or it could be something else!. Many things can be treated and even resolved if not left to continue for too long!.
